As a scientist in Lilly’s Global Patient Outcomes and Real World Evidence (GPORWE) team, you will provide scientific expertise and effective project oversight to ensure the successful fulfillment of the health outcomes research strategy to deliver better patient outcomes that are valued by patients, payers and providers. Projects may focus on disease states or treatments that Lilly is developing and span the entire lifecycle of clinical development and drug commercialization. You will develop and ensure that appropriate health outcomes research strategies are in place to help differentiate Lilly’s medicines from other treatments so that patients, payers, and healthcare providers understand when and how to use the medicines and the expected patient benefits. Responsibilities include the conduct, quality, and integrity of health outcomes studies. From these, you will ensure scientific disclosures, resulting from this research, demonstrate and apply in-depth knowledge, understanding, and evaluation of clinical, economic, and/or patient reported outcomes methodologies.
Effective communication of health outcomes findings and concepts to internal and external business partners and taking a leadership role in the dissemination to the scientific community are crucial parts of this role. In addition, your scientific leadership and effective collaboration in cross functional initiatives, including working with therapeutic area medical and commercial teams, as well as other GPORWE colleagues, is key.
Responsibilities Include:
Environmental Awareness
- Maintains awareness of significant developments in the field of Biomedicines, including current health outcomes methodologies and applications, therapeutic area developments, and other issues as appropriate for specific position responsibilities.
- Anticipates and evaluates future market needs and trends for health outcomes information within specified health care environments.
- Influences the internal and external environment and environmental factors that shape and impact health outcomes.
Strategy
- Collaborates with other scientists to develop global health outcomes research strategy for compounds in the Lilly portfolio.
- Provides strategic direction to address complex health outcomes challenges.
- Formulates or significantly contributes to health outcomes strategies for multiple projects and/or geographies.
Study Development
- Collaborates with other scientists to develop specific health outcomes research programs for compounds/products across the development and commercialization lifecycle, to influence and support appropriate access for Lilly products
- Solves difficult health outcomes issues associated with registration, pricing, reimbursement, and access initiatives through appropriate application of disease state knowledge and research methods.
Project Management
- Ensures health outcomes program/process of study research agenda budgets are realistic, attained on time, and on budget.
- Maintain awareness of, and coordinate as appropriate, research efforts to optimize resource use and make shared learnings easily accessible to all parties involved with the immunology therapeutic area
Information Dissemination
- Effectively communicates health outcomes information to internal business partners, the scientific community, and customers. Leads dissemination of health outcomes information in appropriate scientific venues via development, preparation, and presentation of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts
- Organizes, prepares, and conducts meetings with key internal and external decision makers.
- Ensures alignment with global/regional cross-functional teams (e.g. corporate affairs, medical, marketing, regulatory, pricing, etc.).
Organizational Leadership
- Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with key internal and external decision makers.
- Effectively influences planning and implementation across the development and commercialization lifecycle teams.
Other Responsibilities
- Health Economics- Developing Economic content for payer dossiers; preparing for and managing through ICER reviews
- Develop a model and communicate internally and externally
- RWE/VBA- Supporting implementation of VBA concepts
- Outlining data and analysis requirements for analysis to gain insight to potential metric performance in the covered population to predict and interpret VBA results.
Basic Qualifications:
- An advanced degree, including Ph.D., M.D., or PharmD/Master’s degree with relevant experience in an appropriate discipline (e.g., economics, epidemiology, health administration, health services, medicine, pharmacoeconomic, psychology, statistics, or other relevant sciences).
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a team-oriented/cross-functional environment.
- The ability to think and act globally with a customer focus and a solution orientation.
- Knowledge and experience of health care systems in the U.S., Europe, Asia or other settings as appropriate for the position requirements.
- Understanding of and experience with clinical settings and clinical research.
- Technical and analytic capabilities in the areas of economic modeling, economic evaluation, cost-effectiveness evaluation, burden of disease, epidemiology, statistics, health care policy etc.
- The ability to influence individuals.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
