This individual provides technical and process support for the improvements to the production line. Responsibilities include designing, developing, installing, and testing improvements – both hardware and software. This individual also, support process improvements, address quality issues, provide protocol support, and manage deployment of enhancements to the line; utilizes Process Excellence tools; maintain current knowledge and adhere to provisions of Engineering Standards / best practices, FDA, OSHA, GMP, MPs, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, equipment specifications and process specifications; support new products and new installations; create, review, and update electro/mechanical drawings, operating manuals and procedures, maintenance and calibration procedures, and training manuals as required by the scope of projects that are assigned. Investigate alternative methods and procedures to reduce variability and improve equipment reliability; assist in the design of experiments, under operational and developmental conditions, to decrease cycle times, increase yields, and improve machine reliability, repeatability, and standardization; vigilant for shop safety, environmental safety, product quality, ergonomics and hazardous energy control. provides technical training to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in Operations on new equipment; adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives.

This individual demonstrates mastery and is considered an expert/leader for key machine and/or software competencies. entire manufacturing production line. This individual should be able to train, certify and independently design and create technical developmental plans. Is recognized and respected as an individual that has thorough technical competencies on production equipment and/or software. Initiates and manages Improvement Projects. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with J&J Standards of Leadership and has positive impact on the entire facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports engineering projects to improve the throughput, cycle time, and yield. Responsible for troubleshooting support to MAKE while adhering to all quality and safety procedures. Takes lead role in design reviews (40%)
  • Leads planning, development, and deployment activities as assigned (25%)
  • Supports and leads quality initiatives, such as tasks related to CAPAs and NCs, as assigned (10%)
  • Trains MAKE SMEs (e.g. Process Technical Leads) on new technologies and develops troubleshooting / maintenance manuals on new equipment (10%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management (15%)

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Vocational, Certificate, Technical or Associates degree emphasizing electro-mechanical, PLC, pneumatics or equivalent industrial experience is required
  • 6 years of maintenance or engineering experience with high volume production line environment is required
  • Working knowledge and troubleshooting skills in the following areas is required:

o Process improvement, Line knowledge, PLC systems, electro/mechanical devices, robotic/servo systems, safety devices, equipment installation, debug and qualification, control circuitry development, electro-mechanical troubleshooting/repair, equipment prototyping, production start-up, equipment process development and mechanical devices, controller, mechanical parts design, tooling experience, materials/metal working, and mechanical power transmission

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required
  • Ability to prioritize projects handle multiple tasks is required
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work in an empowered work team environment is required
  • Experience working in a medical device manufacturing facility is preferred
