What you will do

In this role you will be responsible for the affinity maturation, optimization, production, assessment, and selection of large molecule drug candidates within our Biologics Optimization team. The Associate Scientist will utilize molecular biology and protein display techniques to drive the selection of protein therapeutics with improved biophysical properties.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Performing molecular biology techniques including PCR and transformations.
  • Execute cell-based protein binding experiments.
  • Run Flow Cytometry instruments and analyze data.
  • Develop and run automation protocols for a variety of selection-based experiments.
  • Document experimental plans and laboratory procedures in a timely manner and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and work independently on data analysis.
  • Work effectively with scientific software systems (e.g., LIMS systems, electronic laboratory notebooks).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education in the life sciences; Prior experience working in a biopharmaceutical company.
  • Experience with Display Technologies (Yeast Display, Phage Display), Molecular Biology, and FACS.
  • An understanding of protein science fundamentals.
  • A solid understanding of good documentation practices and scientific conduct as defined by standard operating procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and is highly motivated, creative and collaborative.
  • Comfort in working in a highly interactive and vibrant environment and a passion for collaboration.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and work independently on experimental design, execution and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with design of experiments and statistical analysis of data.
