Responsibilities:

  • Sources and procures goods and services of a commodity nature from many suppliers.
  • Initiates Requests for Quotations and Proposals and receives same, analyzing proposed pricing from potential suppliers.
  • Establishes agreements with suppliers using a mix of contract types including firm fixed price and time & material.
  • Evaluates and monitors supplier quality and reliability, as well as supplier ability to support required delivery schedules.
  • Provide prompt and professional purchasing services to internal customers by communicating effectively with the Operating, Engineering, and Maintenance areas
  • Works with internal customers to ensure specifications are appropriate for the services or products required.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency and manage risk through targeted negotiations.
  • Issues purchase orders.
  • Manages performance of purchase orders, ensures compliance with all public law requirements as well as company (and business) policies and procedures including import/export regulations.
  • Employs sound business practices and assesses supplier performance as part of follow-up activities.
  • Ensures that appropriate documentation is provided to logistics/transportation & warehouse organization so that proper receipt is recorded.
  • Reviews and approves supplier payment as needed.
  • Utilizes process tools such as Lean Six Sigma with suppliers to drive quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.

This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the requirements below.Basic Qualifications for level 2:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, or supply chain management.  4 additional years of work experience and/or education can be substituted for the degree
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Expertise using software like Excel to perform data analysis

Basic Qualifications for level 3:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years’ experience in purchasing, or supply chain management.  4 additional years of work experience and/or education can be substituted for the degree
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Expertise using software like Excel to perform data analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4 year university in supply chain management, business, finance or related field preferred
  • Experience purchasing spare parts and indirect materials and services
  • Familiar with electrical, plumbing, or mechanical parts..
  • Assists integrated commodity teams to formulate work packages for blanket agreements.
  • Leads negotiations with suppliers
  • Ability to read technical drawings and documents
  • Knowledge of government contracting requirements and regulations (e.g. FAR, DFARS, ITAR, etc.)
  • Experience developing and applying best value analysis
  • Experience with concurrent engineering
Salary Range: 58300 – 108400
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
