Job Description
A typical branch office has one financial advisor who meets with clients face-to-face and one branch office administrator who enhances the team’s ability to build deep relationships with clients. Headquarters associates in St. Louis and Tempe provide support and expertise to help U.S. and Canada branch teams deliver an ideal client experience. Edward Jones currently has more branch offices than any other financial services firm, and we continue to grow to meet the needs of long-term individual investors.
Product Review is organized in four specialized teams covering investments and solutions such as mutual funds and ETFs, insurance and annuities, stocks and bonds, and retirement and education. It performs its functions independently within the firm by reporting only to the firm’s managing partner.
- Accounting, Finance or Economics Bachelor’s degree and/or a Master’s degree in a related field preferred
- CFA or sit for CFA exam within one year of hire.
- Series 7/66 or their equivalency required or attainable within one year of hire.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Good communication skills.
Minimum Experience Required
- 1-2 years of experience in related field preferred
Depth of knowledge of principles and practices of a specific field of specialization:
- Solid knowledge of economic, statistical and investment concepts.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and using spreadsheets, data tools, and financial databases (Bloomberg, FactSet etc.).
- Willingness to become a continuous student of industry, product, and firm landscapes and concepts.
- Develop an understanding of:
- How to read highly technical and/or legal language.
- Product Review’s role as the informed buyer for the client, and how product decisions contribute to providing complete wealth management for clients.
- Edward Jones investment philosophy and firm business model.
- Financial statements
- Ability to:
- Locate and sort through various information sources to identify relevant information needed to make an investment decision.
- Prepare reports, statistical data and recommendations for use in the formulation of investment decisions, processes or tools.
- Represent Edward Jones by accompanying analysts on meetings for purposes of investment analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing and presenting preliminary analysis to team as well as responding to requests from branch teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to express ideas and results of analysis to team.
Problem Solving:
- Strong critical thinking skills necessary. Ability to assist in the solving of complex, non-routine problems. Requires extensive fact-finding.
- Ability to interpret financial results and various financial ratios.
