The BioTherapeutics (BioTD) Development department contributes to quickly enabling clinical trials to achieve proof-of-concept for new therapeutics and execute robustness and characterization studies progressing through clinical development. The Associate Scientist, Cell Culture, will support our highly streamlined Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) Cell Culture Process Development. Execute timely and effective Cell Culture of new and/or developed molecules (both antibodies and other large therapeutical proteins). Contribute individually and with the team to meet project timelines and objectives.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to Cell Culture processes of early and late assets.
  • Perform laboratory scale Cell Culture and associated inprocess measurements.
  • Record and analyze experimental data, verify data integrity and accuracy, and report/summarize findings to the project team.
  • Maintain accurate written records of work in the form of (electronic) notebooks, technical reports and protocols.
  • Join the larger team in making databased choices that improve later probability of success.
  • Share and discuss experimental results in our team and with the wider department.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology or a related discipline or a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience with a Master’s degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology or a related discipline is required.
  • Knowledge and handson experience in Cell Culture processes of mammalian cells for production of antibodies or other large proteins is required.
  • Experience with centrifugation, depth filtration, and protein A chromatography preferred.
  • Knowledge of the following equipment/instrumentation is preferred: Flatbug Bioreactors, ViCell, BioHT, Metaflex, Solo VPE.
  • Knowledge of data aggregation, statistical analysis and statistical design of experiment is preferred.
  • Must have excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must be detailoriented with excellent record-keeping skills.
  • The ability to collaborate across teams in a matrix environment is required.
