The candidate will join a talented team of scientists and engineers (located in Chicago, Boston, Vancouver and Krakow, Poland) in the Chief Technology Office at Motorola Solutions working on developing mission-critical AI solutions for our public safety and commercial customers. Our mission is to provide meaningful value to MSI’s customers by developing domain-specific applications and services in the areas of Speech & Audio, Machine Translation, Natural Language Understanding and Computer Vision.
Job Description
Join our team to become a cornerstone part of the Artificial Intelligence development and lead our efforts in creating one of the most critical pieces of data science and machine learning workflow – the datasets for training and testing!
Collaborating with our engineering organizations, helping to define data specifications, developing and optimizing processes and utilizing our tools and automation are key tenets of this role.
This role will help determine data needs, approaches for annotation, and drive data conversion. It is also important to identify and assess tools to improve the efficiency of the entire transcription lifecycle.

We know the mission-critical needs of our customers are unique and different from the consumer technologies that leverage AI today.
Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations
- Candidate is responsible for transcribing audio or video files of various lengths with a high degree of accuracy and within a reasonable timeframe according to specific style guides.
- Serve as a team subject matter expert
- Facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders to identify concrete requirements for tactical data needs
- Present annotation proposals and identify data conversion needs
- Coordination with 3rd party vendors for outsourced annotation tasks
- Interaction with data scientists, engineers, and product management
- Provide quality assurance on in-house and external data conversion work
- Insightful analytics and recommendations to improve data quality and process workflows
- Proactively seeking improvement opportunities and owning changes to improve the efficiency of the annotation process
- Coach and train peers as needed
Desired Background/Knowledge/Skills
- Excellent listening skills
- Typing proficiency in both speed and accuracy
- Ability to process extreme audio/text content (content may be offensive)
- Ability to pass a background check
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and operate with a high degree of autonomy
- Experience with command-line scripting and the ability to work in a Linux environment
Basic Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent
- 1+ years of transcription experience
- Must be CJIS certified
