Summary
Performs removal, installation, termination, fusion splicing and testing of Telecom cables. This work is completed in datacenters, office areas and confined spaces.

  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of the facility’s fiber optic infrastructure and other cable installation-related duties as required.
  • Works overtime (both scheduled and emergency), after hours (early morning or late night), weekends and holidays as required.
  • Complies with all Fluor Corporation safety requirements and programs.
  • Familiar with industry Fiber Types: Single Mode and Multi-Mode as well as various Fiber Connectors (ST, LC, SC, SC-APC etc.)
  • Planning, installing and maintaining facility cables within a network infrastructure to include placement of end-point and mid-point items and the mounting of those in racks or cabinets as needed.
  • Documentation of installation information.
  • Installation and removal through PDS (Protected Distribution System) conduits and pathways, general facility spaces (raised floors and overhead tray systems) as well as installation of mid-point items such as patch panels.
  • Manage, categorize and organize inventory of daily equipment used for work.
  • Provide technical support for all relative hardware and copper/fiber cabling.
  • Perform data entry of incoming tickets.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of data centers.
  • Work directly with other IT departments to gather and plan out installations and work requests.
  • Familiar with OTDR, Fusion Splicers, basic Light-Source meters is desired
  • Performs other general maintenance-related duties.

Salary Rate: $34.00 to $43.00/hour + Fringe

  • Ability to work in “High Pressure” situations on “Critical” equipment effectively and safely.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain “Level 2” Cable Installer Certification within two years of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BICSI Certifications
  • Fiber Certifications
  • Experience working with the DOD
  • “Level I” Cable Installer Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent appropriate General Certificates of Secondary Education or global equivalent preferred
  • One (1) year experience in the telecommunication industry maintaining the telephone systems and telephone cabling
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to multi-task
  • Excellent customer service skills
