WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The Flyknit team is looking for someone who is passionate about creating textiles and athletic footwear that hits the highest performance and sustainability standards. A successful candidate will have an understanding of knit machines and there operating systems, an understanding of design in the product creation process, the ability to perform in a fast paced matrix organization, and operate independently with minimal guidance. The ideal candidate is a flexible self-starter who is motivated to continually grow and learn. We are looking for a strong team player and a proficient multi-tasker who can work on product across multiple seasons.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?

As a Flyknit Programmer I you will be located at Nike’s World Headquarters in Beaverton, OR where you will be a key member of the Knit Product Creation (KPC) team to craft and develop new upper textiles/fabrics alongside category designers, developers and engineers for the latest in Nike’s Flyknit footwear. You will work hand in hand with the dimension Designers to create and execute the vision for the fabric. Additionally, you will work closely with a Flyknit Engineer to dial in the patterning and manufacturability of the Flyknit part. Finally, you will partner with the Nike Asia Flyknit team to ensure continuity and manufacturability between Knit Centers (KC) during product development and commercialization.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will work mainly with the WHQ dimension Footwear Designer/Material Designers to ideate and create new upper fabrics. You will also be closely aligned to Flyknit Engineering who will help with patterning, construction and offshore communications. You will engage with the Flyknit Programmers and Engineers in our Asia based Product Creation Centers, and footwear factories to ensure manufacturability. Other than footwear projects, the Flyknit team, made up of your fellow Flyknit Programmers and Engineers, are also tasked to advance initiatives that move and grow Flyknit for the greater group.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING?

  • 1+ years relevant work experience
  • Experience using knitting software such as Stoll (M1) or Shima (TDS or SDS One)
  • Experience working closely with Design partners and their influence in the product creation process
  • Understanding of the product creation process.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with business partners.
  • Basic understanding of standard methodologies around machine set up and adjustments.
  • Strong communication skills are required as this role works across multiple projects in multiple seasons and has multiple teams (Categories/Manufacturing).
