We’ll support you with training, employee resource groups, and our shared vision of global security.The Tactical Space Systems division of Northrop Grumman seeks qualified candidates for the Aerosciences team.Job Responsibilities Problem abstraction, decomposition and analysis of continuum, rarefied and/or plasma flows in complex configurations by means of numerical techniques such as CFD, DSMC, PIC, etc.Grid generation of internal/external geometries using structured multi-block, unstructured, hybrid and overset meshes for viscous, rarefied and plasma simulations.Problem set up, numerical execution and post-processing of solutions.Use of High Performance Computing (HPC) Linux clusters for convergence and solution of numerical simulations.Physical modeling and/or model implementation of plasma thrusters, chemical thrusters, flow systems, test set-ups etc.Validation of numerical models by means of empirical data.Includes interpretation of data obtained experimentally and/or design of physical test set-ups.Technical support to other engineering disciplines like Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C), Propulsion, Thermal, etc.Generation of Statements of Work (SOW) and management of subcontract work to outside vendors.Preparation and presentation of technical reports for internal and external customers.Participation in program meetings and design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.).

Basic Qualifications:
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing a graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2022.
  • Be majoring in Aerospace Engineering, Physics or closely related technical discipline
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Outstanding time-management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in numerical M&S of fluid and/or plasma dynamics.
  • Working experience with Linux OS and HPC platforms.
  • Programming experience with C language and Python scripting.
  • Working experience with CFD, DSMC an d/or PIC government or commercial software.
  • Working experience with pre- and post-processing software like Pointwise, Tecplot and ParaView.

NGE – TechnicalIntern Pay Range:Bachelor’s: $24.00 to $29.75 per hourMaster’s: $35.25 to $37.50 per hourAt Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
