Northrop Grumman is seeking Intern, Structural Analysis Engineer to join the Space Systems Intern Program. This position will be located in Goleta, CA.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Deployable Systems Organization.

The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, high-tech, people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other developers at the cutting edge of satellite and deployable systems technology.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an intern, you’ll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of Structural Analysis engineering specializations that may include:

  • Review structural and dynamic requirements of flight hardware
  • Perform structural analysis of flight and ground equipment piece parts using hand calcs formulas
  • Prepare calculation sheets for different engineering analyses
  • Review of manufacturing drawings using CAD Software Creo

Basic Qualifications

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2022.
  • Be majoring in a STEM field (physics, engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil), Mathematics, etc
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2022
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.70 out of 4.0 or higher.
  • Familiar with finite element model creation and analyses using NASTRAN (Femap) or ANSYS
  • Good presentation and writing/communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment.
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups.

Intern Pay Range:

Bachelor’s: $24.00 to $29.75 per hour

Master’s: $35.25 to $37.50 per hour

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates are standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.
