Overview and Responsibilities
The CBS Sports Social Media team creates and distributes all content posted from CBS Sports Digital’s social media channels. In a sports media landscape that’s cluttered with noise, we take pride in building creative concepts that cut through with our audience and represent the values of our brands.
CBS Sports is seeking a candidate to help its coverage on Social Media. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the sports landscape including, but not limited to, the NFL, NCAA, NBA and MLB. In addition, they will understand best practices of prominent social platforms (specifically Twitter, Instagram and TikTok) as proven by their portfolio of work. They know the most effective tactics to engage sports fans and are equipped to create content (i.e. videos, graphics, photoshops, memes) on their own and when delegating to designers. Further, they have a demonstrated ability to identify trending stories, format them for a variety of platforms, and use them to engage our audience.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Identify trending stories and convert them into content to drive engagement
Brainstorm original creative concepts in reaction to ongoing social conversation across the sports landscape
Build photoshops, memes, and social video from scratch when needed
Coordinate with marketing and social media teams to amplify CBS Sports messaging and promotion.
Cover sports games and live events
Significantly grow audience and engagement
Work with various teams to convert cbssports.com articles and VOD segments into posts
Participate in interdepartmental brainstorms, offering feedback from a social perspective
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of social media experience and/or experience in a digital newsroom or production setting
Degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Premiere)
Familiarity with social media audiences, standard methodologies and analytics!
Additional Qualifications
Strong writing ability and an understanding of English grammar
Ability to multitask and perform at the highest levels under stress and tight deadlines
Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Teammate mentality, ability to work with a diverse group of people!
