As a Starbucks payroll analyst, you will ensure our 250,000+ partners in the United States and Canada are paid timely and accurately. You also provide training to other team members, follow best practices and support technology enhancements.
Leveraging your previous experience, we will enable you to:
- Prepare paychecks that require special processing including bonus payouts, correction of hours, off cycle batch processing, applying appropriate overtime rules, deductions, benefits, and accruals.
- Lend cross functional support to PRO projects and initiatives including defining business requirements, writing test scripts and identifying impacted population.
- Ensuring courteous and professional follow up, research, respond, and resolve incoming phone calls, emails and cases from the call tracking system in a timely manner.
- Identify areas that need to be monitored or analyzed on a consistent basis. Anticipate and prepare for potential issues and recommend resolutions. Report payroll processing and system issues as appropriate.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements. Lead cross functional teams in resolving process concerns and developing new processes. Maintain process documentation, validating policies and procedures against State and Provincial laws. Participate in periodic internal auditing of key responsibilities.
- Perform payroll reconciliation for assigned cycles including validation of hours, earnings, tax deductions, and employee deductions.
- Multi-State payroll processing preferred
- Preferred experience in Federal/State/Local or Provincial labor payroll, garnishment and tax law
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Foundational understanding of payroll including garnishments, bonus payments and special payments
- Ability to apply knowledge of business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
- Ability to balance multiple priorities, effectively manage time, and meet deadlines
- Basic skills preferred in payroll systems (specifically SAP), accounting systems (specifically Oracle), Microsoft Suite (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.). Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions.
- Emerging analytical and technical skills with attention to detail and execution with the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology and support process improvements
- Ability to mentor and train peers
