The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for adhering to standardized QA policies, processes, documentation standards, creating test cases, assisting with automating test scripts, overseeing and/or participating in all aspects of project testing, overseeing IS QA test environments, providing technical guidance to less senior QA team members, and ensuring schedule adherence for assigned projects and initiatives.

ROLE

  • Participates in requirements and use case/user story reviews.
  • Provides accurate estimates for QA effort, QA schedules, and QA resource requirements.
  • Responsible for creating and gaining project approval on project test plans.
  • Responsible for creating and/or overseeing the creation and approval of project test cases.
  • Responsible for overseeing or generating all QA-related documentation.
  • Ensures adherence to standardized QA policies, processes and documentation standards.
  • Executes test cases, defect management, and adherence to test schedule.
  • Coordinates onshore and offshore testing.
  • Responsible for helping to mentor and develop other members of the IS QA team.
  • Responsible for UAT support and testing production defect fixes.
  • Responsible for being familiar with source code, version management, and code deployment standards.
  • Ensures that QA processes and procedures for test environments are followed and that the integrity of the various environments is not compromised.
  • Attends daily standup meetings and provides testing status.
  • Provides weekly QA project status reports.
  • Attends bi-weekly sprint completion meetings and demo to stakeholders.

REQUIRED

  • Minimum 5 years’ software quality assurance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience testing in one or more of the following environments: Cloud based testing, UI testing, Functional testing, n-tier client/server.
  • Minimum 4 years’ hands-on experience using HP, IBM, or other industry standard SQA tools.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, or DB2 and the ability to write SQL queries and table joins.
  • Experience testing in an iSeries/AS400 environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile, SDLC, and SQA methodology.
  • Exceptional test resource planning and test scheduling skills.
  • Ability to produce and mentor others in the creation of effective software test plans and test cases.
  • Adept at writing quality defects and working directly with developers to resolve the defects.
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to work closely and effectively with other teams.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and excellent collaboration skills.
  • Assists with automating and/or executing automated test cases.

Recommended

  • 2 years’ SQA experience working within an iterative development framework.
  • Good understanding of data warehouse concepts.
  • Previous experience working in an SAP environment preferred.
  • Understanding of build tools and software configuration management standards.
  • Experience with multiple Costco business areas/systems.
  • Degree in computer science or related technical field preferred.
