Research Associate

Summary:

Pfizer is looking for a Research Associate to join our RWE COE Oncology team within the Chief Business Office’s Patient & Health Impact (PHI) group. This position is full time and based remotely. The RA will provide both analytic and research (i.e., literature reviews) support for RWD insights and evidence generation various RWE COE Oncology activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide both analytic and research (i.e., literature reviews) support for RWD insights and evidence generation activities, such as the natural history of the disease, the burden of illness, prevalence & incidence estimates, etc., to inform study design & cross-functional decision-making
  • Identify codes and algorithms to identify health care populations and events of interest (diagnosis, procedure, NDC, HCPCS, LOINC, etc… codes) used for studies using real-world (administrative claims and EMR) data
  • Represent the RWE COE in project team meetings and assist in the dissemination of key information to internal colleagues
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate strategic plans, study findings, project deliverables, and general updates to internal and external audiences.

Organizational Relationships:

  • Provide support across products and team members in the Oncology business unit, as well as cross-functional (Medical, Commercial, Corporate Affairs) support and communication as necessary
  • Works with project teams to manage the day-to-day activities of studies
  • Interpersonal skills to seamlessly interact on both business and scientific issues
  • Excellent collaborator who can build working relationships with a diverse group of colleagues
  • Creative problem-solving skills in designing alternative approaches, new solutions, or innovations to address study needs

Qualifications:

  • Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science (MS) in epidemiology, biostats or a related discipline, and minimum 1+ year of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related organizations, and/or interacting with R&D and/or commercial organizations in the pharmaceutical industry, OR BA/BS in a related field with minimum 3+ years of experience in the industry
  • Experience working with real world data (administrative claims and EMR) in a research setting, in academia, or health care organization
  • Competence with online medical literature search engines (e.g. PubMed, EMBASE, OVID, TDR’s Incidence Prevalence Database, etc…)
  • Experience managing more than one project simultaneously, prioritizing, managing some work without direction, and recognizing key issues
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills required
  • Experience with the methodological approaches and tools used in health services research, e.g., literature review, clinical data interpretation, and claims/EMR data analysis
  • Competence with Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with analytic tools such as R, SAS, Tableau, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform rapid queries using RWD. Experience with data visualizations would be a plus
  • Proficient at producing tables, figures, and slides
  • Comfortable working remotely
