We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Scientist with a background in Oncology target identification and validation to join a cross-functional team within Discovery Oncology. Primary responsibilities will include designing and executing experiments in the laboratory to identify and validate novel targets for our early discovery pipeline. An ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues in the discovery group as well as scientists from different disciplines will be essential.
The specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform CRISPR screens to identify novel targets
- Employ genetic perturbation techniques for target validation and mechanism of action studies
- Develop new methods using CRISPR technology to support target discovery and drug discovery efforts
- Ensure data generated is communicated in a concise, easy to understand manner to the appropriate teams and stakeholders
- Collaborate with colleagues from Discovery Oncology, in vivo pharmacology, Genome and Biomarker Sciences, Chemical Biology, and Quantitative Biosciences to develop and integrate enabling technology to identify and validate novel targets
Required Education and Experience:
- The ideal candidate will have a BS/MS degree in the biological sciences, with 1-5 years of experience in the area of cancer biology, molecular biology, or related area.
Required Skills:
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture
- Expertise in CRISPR/Cas9 genetic perturbation with lentivirus and RNP delivery
- Expertise in cell and molecular biology techniques including PCR, qRT-PCR, western blot, flow cytometry, and proliferation/cytotoxicity/apoptosis assays
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to design experiments, interpret data, troubleshoot, and suggest next steps
- Candidate should be a strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and thrive in a team environment
- Excellent organization and ability to contribute to multiple projects
Preferred Skills:
- Experience performing functional genomics screens
- Experience with cloning and lentivirus generation; overexpression of wildtype and mutant constructs
- Experience with assessment of CRISPR editing efficiency using Sanger sequencing or NGS
