Your Opportunity

The Digital Advice Technology (DAT) group manages a suite of Schwab automated investing products, including Schwab Intelligent Portfolios and Schwab Intelligent Portfolios Premium. We deliver great platforms through teamwork, innovation, and attention to quality in order bring wealth management solutions to more customers. Schwab Intelligent Portfolios is a fully automated investment advisory service with features such as goal tracking, automatic rebalancing, and tax-loss harvesting. Schwab Intelligent Portfolios Premium is a hybrid advisory service that takes the benefits from Schwab Intelligent Portfolios and adds in financial planning and live credentialed professionals.

DAT is looking for an engineer who will raise the bar on quality software engineering practices for the User Experience engineering team. This team develops, tests, and releases core UI functionalities for the Client and Rep web applications for Intelligent Portfolios. This position provides the opportunity to work innovatively and collaboratively with business and technology partners to execute to Schwab’s vision to be the most trusted leader in investment services.

What you are good at

  • Have a quality mind set and hands on experience in Quality Assurance in agile methodologies
  • Ability to identify gaps and ambiguities in requirements early and get those addressed in a timely manner
  • Be a hands-on advocate and leader for test automation engineering for a single scrum team, driving continuous integration and deployment strategies with a DevOps philosophy on the Atlassian stack
  • Actively supports and provides guidance on the company’s software engineering and test processes, procedures, standards, and customer use cases
  • Assist developers with implementing and integrating robust test automation and quality gates into the build pipeline
  • Experience with QA automation tools, test management systems, and CI/CD systems (Bamboo, etc) are a plus

What you have

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field
  • 1+ years of hands-on application programming and/or test automation / framework experience in an Agile development environment
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Experience in developing or influencing the development of automated framework(s) for enterprise level functional and regression testing is preferable
  • Passion for building solutions through automation, driven by innovation and commitment to lifelong learning
  • Strong programming, debugging/troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in UI test automation is a plus
  • Experience with CI /CD tools like Bamboo, Jenkins, BitBucket, Shell Scripting is a plus
  • Ability to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions when tools don’t work
  • Motivation and passion to stay on top of new and emerging test and automation technologies and able to provide direction to team on quality approaches
