We are looking to add a Software Engineer II to our Discover team. This team is responsible for the front-end application throughout the customer’s browsing journey. This team focuses on experiences including the global home page, department category pages, Deal of the Day, and various sales and brand pages. Our team serves internal customers with components built for managed content. We serve our external customers with a focus on function, design, and accessibility. Discover is a team built to pivot quickly as new business needs are introduced, executing tasks to a high standard for each stakeholder.

The Software Engineer II role is transitioning from a support role into a technical leader on the team. This role focuses on transitioning to mentoring, leading, and helping others grow on the team. They are starting to be recognized as experts in their area.

Key Responsibilities

• Codes small and large application features from start to finish with various partner input
• Delivers complex products that are well-tested and bug-free
• Communicates effectively both verbally and written with various business partners
• Troubleshoots and resolves functional issues in code
• Takes a mentoring initiative for personal and peer growth
• Keeps up with learning and applying industry trends
• Creates and improves internal libraries and tools
• Partners with team-specific stakeholders to mitigate risk within the team and with external associates
• Skilled at breaking large problems into smaller ones and defining acceptance criteria
• Participates in and leads production support situations
• Persistent in the face of roadblocks; dispatches them efficiently, pulling in others as necessary

Minimum Qualifications

• 2 years of developing web applications with modern JavaScript frameworks like React.js, Node.js, or related

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-4 years of relevant professional experience
• 6 months of technical leadership responsibilities including leading, coaching, and/or mentoring development teams
• Experience with Jest.js
• Experience with Lerna.js
• Experience with Rollup.js
• Experience with linting tools, such as stylelint and ESLint
• Experience with the Atlassian suite of tools, including Jira, BitBucket, and Confluence.
